About

Hey!

My name is Erica. I have been meaning to start a blog for awhile, but I haven’t, because I have a variety of things going through my head at any given time, and never knew what to write about.

Do I want to blog about my thoughts, and turn my blog into an online diary? No, that would be way too personal- and if you know me, you already know I’m too much of an open book as it is. I am 25, married, and have lots of things to talk about. I have personal reflections on aspects such as relationships, friendships, school, technology, the state of the education system, the political system, and healthcare today. I have a feeling that if I were to start a “personal” blog, all these things would come up and more.

Do I want to blog about theology and religious history? Those are my interests. I have a masters degree in that field, and am looking to someday teach the subject. I have a ton to talk about regarding God, but more importantly, the people who believe in him/her/it. I love languages, I love the ancient world, and I love talking about why people do the things they do and their motivations behind religious actions. I could talk about things like that for days, so any time anything interesting comes up on CNN I will gladly post about it. And Pope Francis? Don’t even get me started on how awesome he is.

Or do I want to blog about epilepsy? 5 years ago I was hospitalized with a brain infection that lead to epilepsy as a result. I haven’t had any grand mal/ tonic-clonic seizures since 2010, but I still have partial seizures on a regular basis, sometimes multiple times a week. I am highly medicated, and medication costs a lot. I have a LOT of opinions on healthcare, insurance, transportation, and the like. This has been a constant struggle for myself and my husband for the last 5 years.

Needless to say, I have finally given up on trying to decide what to write about. I just started writing. When I have something to say, I will say it. I will try to categorize my posts to say whether they are personal, academic, or pertaining to epilepsy, but regardless, I’m here. I hope you enjoy my personal/theological/epileptic ramblings, and I hope they provide for you a snapshot of the thoughts going through my head.
